FAQ

About the protocol

How is XRegulation different from meditation, mindfulness, or other nervous system practices?

Most popular nervous system interventions are practices, meaning they shift the participant’s state in the moment without changing the underlying baseline. XRegulation is a protocol, meaning it works at the underlying autonomic layer that the practices are pointing at without directly retraining. The Protocol vs. Practice page covers the structural distinction in detail.

How is XRegulation different from neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback typically uses EEG to provide direct feedback about cortical activity. XRegulation uses HRV biofeedback in a VR environment that responds to the autonomic nervous system. The two work at different levels of the system. Many participants have done neurofeedback and found it useful but incomplete; XRegulation often serves as the autonomic complement to the cortical work neurofeedback does.

I have tried a lot of things already. Why would this be different?

Most of the interventions people try before XRegulation work at the level of conscious awareness, framing, skill, or in-the-moment stimulation. These are real layers of human change, and the work at those layers can be deep and meaningful. None of them, however, directly retrains the underlying autonomic and neurochemical systems that determine whether the body is in a state that can support the change the other interventions have been pointing at. XRegulation is built at that underlying layer.

Is this a medical treatment?

No. XRegulation is positioned as a performance and wellness program rather than a medical treatment. The protocol is not designed to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Many participants engage XRegulation alongside ongoing clinical care, and the protocol is designed to be compatible with therapy, psychiatric care, medication, and other clinical interventions.

FAQ

About the program

How long is the program?

Five weeks of daily ten-minute sessions, supported by weekly group coaching with Cameron and ongoing measurement of HRV and NSCI.

How does enrollment work?

Enrollment is open continuously. Once you have completed the consultation with Cameron and decided to proceed, you enroll, the equipment ships, and you begin the five weeks when you are ready rather than waiting for a fixed start date.

How much time does the program take?

Ten minutes per day for the daily session, plus one hour per week for the group coaching with Cameron. The weekly coaching is scheduled flexibly across the participant base.

Can I do the program if I travel?

Yes. The home neuro lab is portable. As long as you have internet access, you can engage the daily sessions and the weekly coaching from anywhere.

What happens at the end of the five weeks?

The equipment is returned to the business via prepaid shipping. Participants who want to continue working with the equipment can make arrangements to keep the device and enroll in additional programming. Your data and measurements remain accessible to you indefinitely.

FAQ

About fit

Can I do this if I am in therapy or on medication?

Yes. XRegulation is designed to work alongside ongoing therapy and medication, including SSRIs, benzodiazepines, ADHD stimulants, sleep medication, and other psychiatric medications. The protocol does not require medication changes, and any adjustments should be made in partnership with the prescribing clinician.

Can I do this if I have a clinical diagnosis like anxiety, depression, ADHD, or PTSD?

Yes. The protocol works at the underlying regulatory layer that produces both diagnosed conditions and the subclinical experiences of sustained activation, depletion, and reactivity. The relevant condition pages, including Anxiety and Stress and Focus and Clarity, cover each pattern in more depth.

Can I do this if I have a history of head injury or am pregnant?

Both are situations the consultation covers carefully. For a head injury within the past six months, the VR equipment use makes the protocol less appropriate. Pregnancy has not been studied specifically in the protocol, and the consultation includes a thoughtful walk-through of timing and fit.

What if I am in acute crisis?

If you are experiencing active suicidal ideation, current psychosis, or another acute mental health crisis, the right first step is your existing clinical care or an appropriate crisis service, not XRegulation. The protocol is designed for people whose experience is being managed but not changed durably, not for people in acute crisis requiring immediate clinical intervention.

FAQ

About measurement and outcomes

How is change measured?

Two measures are tracked. HRV is measured continuously during each daily session. The Nervous System Coherence Index, a structured self-assessment of your subjective experience, is measured at the beginning, middle, and end of the program.

How soon will I notice changes?

Most participants notice changes within the first two to three weeks. The specific domains where change appears first vary: some experience sleep changes earliest, others notice reactivity, others see focus or relational changes first. The most substantial changes typically appear in the second half of the program.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. If you complete 95% of the program sessions across the five weeks and do not see measurable improvement on the Nervous System Coherence Index, the program is refunded. The guarantee exists because the protocol’s design supports it.

FAQ

About the consultation and the investment

What happens during the consultation?

The consultation is a 30-minute video call with Cameron Allen. The purpose is to determine, together, whether XRegulation is the right fit for your situation. Cameron walks through where your nervous system is currently operating, what specifically would change if the protocol was the right next step, and any specific concerns or constraints. The conversation is at no cost and carries no obligation.

How much does the program cost?

The investment is discussed during the consultation rather than published on the website. Payment plan options are also discussed during the consultation.

Is this covered by insurance, HSA, or FSA?

Traditional health insurance generally does not cover XRegulation because the program is positioned as a performance and wellness program rather than a medical treatment. HSA and FSA coverage depends on your specific account rules and any guidance from your account administrator. Some participants have successfully used HSA or FSA funds; others have not.

Who is Cameron Allen?

Cameron Allen is a Translational Neuroscientist, Founder of Neuro Progeny, and Co-Founder of Sensorium Neuro Wellness. He has spent 16 years in functional neuroimaging and brain-based intervention. The About page covers his background and the founding story of XRegulation in detail.

The next step is a conversation.

If your questions have been answered, the next step is the 30-minute consultation with Cameron. He will walk through your specific situation, address anything this page did not cover, and determine together with you whether XRegulation is the right next step.
